Candidate Endorsement Questionnaire for School Board
Dear Candidate,
As you are well aware, getting information on school board candidates to voters is a difficult process. The questions below are to let me help you in that task.
I have over 100,000 voters on our email list or visit our website www.electionforum.org and www.LAVoterGuide.com who are waiting for a recommendation on how to vote.
Plus, I have already started a schedule of multiple interviews on each of several radio stations in Southern California (KKLA, KBRT and KWVE) with the same election information presented on the air with specific endorsements on local races.
The questions below cover your outlook. Please complete and return this to us by Wednesday, Sept 16th.
- Please tell us your name and the district you are running for.
- What are the three (3) most pressing issues facing the school district? Please prioritize them. What if anything do you plan to do about them if you are elected to the position of governing board member? What specific promises will you make to the voters in order to be elected?

(3) - California voters passed Proposition 227 back in 1998 to end the practice of educating students in their “home” language rather than English. Bilingual education has been a divisive issue for a number of years. When it comes to bilingual education, what do you favor and why?

- There a drop out problem in our schools. What can we do about it?
- Many public school officials say the way to improve our education system if for more parental involvement. How would you increase parent involvement in our schools?
- Do you favor or oppose the expansion of charter schools within the school district? Why or why not? Do you favor or oppose the use of voucher system within the public school system? Why or Why not?
- Do you believe there is a place for celebrations of religious holidays and singing religious music in holiday programs? What would you support and allow and what should be excluded from the school? Should the school be inclusive of every religion or try to neuter and or exclude as much religion as possible?
- When teaching science, should alternatives to evolution (such as Intelligent Design) be taught in public schools? Should individual instructors be given leeway to teach both points of view? Or should only the accepted theories of evolution be taught without mentioning the scientific objections to the theory?
- With the state budget deficit, how would you handle the decrease in state funding?
- Do you favor or oppose new taxes, fees or bonds?
- Will you support or oppose homeschooling?
